Glenn McGinnis uses painting, drawing and sculpture to explore human connections and the alienation that occurs when connections are not made or are severed. The connections of artist to art and to audience are emphasized in the evidence of the artist's hand in the work and in the subject matter of figures interacting, or solitary faces engaging the audience with a direct gaze from the art's surface.  Working in both two and three dimensions, McGinnis plays with the tension between object and representation and asks the viewer to consider the role of art as a conduit of connection.

Born in New York City in 1970, Glenn McGinnis's art was shaped by an international childhood spent in London, Hong Kong , Tokyo and the U.S. McGinnis earned his dual BFA in sculpture and painting at Cornell University in 1993, where he was mentored by Elenore Mikus and Jim Cole.  He moved to NYC where he lived for 20 years making art and fostering technology in the Arts community. He was an early Internet pioneer, creating and running the @Cafe, a historic Internet event space. McGinnis is currently based in Northern NJ, where he lives with his wife and son and makes art full time.
